In a world where electricity is the lifeblood of modern society, the aging transmission line in Erie County stands as a testament to the importance of infrastructure maintenance. This summer, a $51.4 million project will breathe new life into a vital energy artery, highlighting the intricate dance between technological advancement and community resilience.

The Ashtabula-Erie West line, built in the 1960s, has served its purpose admirably. However, like any aging infrastructure, its parts have worn out, leading to increased vulnerability during peak demand periods. Personally, I find it fascinating how something as essential as electricity relies on such tangible, physical structures. It's a reminder that our digital age is still very much grounded in the tangible world.
A Corrosion Crisis
One of the most pressing issues is the corrosion of transmission structures and guy wires. In my opinion, this is a critical blind spot for many.
